Considered by many to be the most challenging course ever to host the Invitational Shootout, Maple Meadows Country Club is a 27-hole facility located in west suburban Wood Dale, IL. The Shootout was contested on the par 71 west 18, which features rolling hills, massive bunkers and significant changes in elevation. Maple Meadows’ putting surfaces are among the largest in the Chicagoland area and feature severe slopes that often require precise approach shots to avoid tricky down hill or side hill putts.
Throughout its tenure as host course of the Invitational Shootout, Maple Meadows typically rewarded long, yet precision ball strikers who could navigate the multiple sweeping doglegs while positioning themselves for their approach shots. Two-time Shootout Champion Ray Shinkle enjoyed great success at Maple Meadows, primarily due to his punishing drives and targeted short iron play.
